My Eco Acts of Kindness
- I buy wind energy credits
- I drink fair trade organic coffee
- I recycle
- I bring my own bags to stores (even the mall)
- Many consumer goods I purchase are second hand
- I use CFL bulbs
- I dry my clothes outside, not in the dryer
- My washer and dishwasher are energy star rated
- I don’t own an SUV, truck, or other large gas guzzler.
- I use natural, biodegradable cleaning products
- I avoid cosmetics and hygiene products that contain toxins like parabens or have been tested on animals
- I use recycled paper towels and toilet paper (most of the time)
- I support my local farmers and artisans
- I wash my clothes in cold water
- I unplug things when not in use
- I don’t buy bottled water for myself, and I use a stainless steel water bottle instead of plastic
- If I buy coffee at a coffee shop, I bring my own travel mug
My Eco Sins
- I eat meat (but less than I used to)
- I take longer showers than needed
- I buy bottled water for my husband
- I drive more than I probably have to
- My car only gets 30-35mpg
- I highlight my hair
- I still buy some pre-packaged, processed foods… but not nearly as much as I used to!
- I use the central air conditioning at night when it is very hot and I can’t sleep.
- sometimes I forget my travel mug!
- I consume more than I need to
Eco Wishes
- to someday be able to bike to where I need to go, or take public transport
- to have my own garden
- to have a gray water recycling system
- get a tankless water heater
- learn to can and preserve vegetables and sauces
